By Nancy Spannaus If President Clinton, the Congress, or the American people had forced through the exoneration of statesman Lyndon LaRouche and his associates within the last four years, our nation would not be going through the "Starr Chamber" assault which it is suffering today. Black elected officials would not be the subject of wholesale political prosecutions, and feisty labor and other political leaders would not have been crippled by judicial attacks. The corrupt permanent bureaucracy at the Department of Justice, and its allied Bush machine, would have been not only exposed but destroyed. If you think that I am exaggerating, you have not understood the truth, or the significance, of the LaRouche case. Over the past four years, the period in which LaRouche has been out of prison on parole, his political movement has circulated millions of pamphlets detailing the relevant evidence on the record, demonstrating the innocence of LaRouche and his co-defendants. By now, no knowledgeable Congressman, Senator, or other civic leader is without access to the proof that LaRouche should be exonerated. In addition, thousands of state legislators and other American political and civic leaders have joined international political figures in petitioning President Clinton to act for LaRouche's exoneration. On the political level, as a political fact, one might say that LaRouche has already been exonerated in many people's minds. His false conviction is increasingly less effective in preventing government officials all over the world, and others, from listening to his economic wisdom. But this is not good enough. First, it requires formal exoneration in order for LaRouche to be able to play the hands-on, visible role which he must play with President Clinton and other world leaders in the midst of the world financial breakdown which is upon us. Second, it requires formal exoneration in order to clean out the entrenched, filthy political networks within our "justice" system, which are a threat to the very notion of justice in our republic. Without destroying, if not prosecuting these networks, it will be impossible to release in a timely fashion-NOW-the remaining political prisoners of the LaRouche movement, and others as well. The Threat to the Republic To understand how the network which jailed LaRouche threatens our nation, you have to review the highlights of the history of the political/judicial attacks on LaRouche. It begin in the late 1960s and early 1970s with four networks: the FBI, the Eastern Establishment banking families (represented by the Ford Foundation, in particular), the Communist Party, and the Wall Street Journal. All of these networks-whose British and oligarchical stringpullers have become more and more obvious-continue to be active today, along with their allies and tools. Their most active phase, however, came in the early 1980s, when the secret government apparatus that includes all these forces, initiated a secret, national security investigation under Executive Order 12333. You will see a number of the operations which were carried out under that rubric, detailed in the documentation below-the disinformation campaign, the recruitment of witnesses, and so forth and so on. Note that 12333 authorized operations run under the Vice-President (then Bush), which involved foreign intelligence agencies, and public and private institutions. In fighting these operations, the LaRouche movement has uncovered, more thoroughly than anyone else to date, the labyrinth of dirty networks which are deployed by the families of the international financial oligarchy, to destroy their enemies, and to destroy the functioning of a just legal system. While others thought that the filthy, McCarthyite tactics of Gay Edgar Hoover were dead, we unveiled leading members of the permanent bureaucracy in the Justice Department-like Jack Keeney and Mark Richard-who carry on his tradition today. While others believed that the press operated independently of judicial prosecution, we revealed the secret meetings which planned out the press coverage that would shape the climate for a sure conviction. In 1995, with the aid of the LaRouche movement, an independent commission, largely composed of state legislators, came together to hold hearings on leading types of politically motivated cases-those against black elected officials, those against LaRouche and his associates, and those against so-called Nazi war criminals. The pattern of prosecutorial abuse showed, without question, that what we have in our Department of Justice is a political hit squad, which continues to act with virtual impunity. This corrupt permanent bureaucracy has come close to being exposed. Its members were the decisionmakers in the Waco and Ruby Ridge atrocities-but neither the Congress nor the administration followed through to pin them for their crimes. This grouping also got a slap on the wrist in the courts, with the overturning of the John Demjanjuk ("Ivan the Terrible") case, and the "Lost Trust" sting case in South Carolina. But, political heads have not begun to roll. The Threat to the President It is bad enough that this criminal network, run from outside our government but operating through it, can target, and send to jail, hundreds of black politicians, and perceived political threats to the Establishment, like Lyndon LaRouche. Like the McCarthyism of the early 1950s, this kind of operation destroys faith in our republican system of government, by "taking out" those who represent the have-nots, and those who tell the truth. The assassinations of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and President Kennedy have been followed up with political assassinations. But now, the same apparatus that went into high gear against LaRouche in the 1980s, is gunning for the Presidency, and the President. Like the 12333 operation against LaRouche, this mobilization includes public and private forces-the dirty network in the Justice Department, the coordination of filthy press propaganda, and a nexus of private thinktanks paid for by the oligarchical families. There are chilling parallels between the Train Salon against LaRouche (described below), and the Olson Salon against Clinton which has recently come to light. What is known is that former DoJ official Ted Olson, a close friend of Starr, pulls together frequent meetings in his Great Falls, Va. home, which include journalists, lawyers, politicos, and even a Supreme Court Justice. We do not yet know whether there is an official intelligence cover for the Olson-Starr salon, but its mingling of so-called objective law enforcement with wild anti-Clinton partisans in the media and elsewhere, should raise alarm. Even more dangerous, of course, is the corrupt network within the FBI and the DoJ-and maybe other agencies-which is authorizing special prosecutors, permitting illegal bugging, and generally acting like part of a conspiracy "to get" the President. What To Do We are reaching a crossroads, right now. On the one hand, the assault on the President is reaching insurrectionary proportions and must be stopped, if the Presidency is to remain constitutionally intact. On the other, it is absolutely indispensable that Lyndon LaRouche have a free hand in dealing with the world financial crisis in this historic period. Both of these problems can be dealt with through one action-obtaining the exoneration of LaRouche. Are you going to let fear of public opinion hold you back in fighting for establishing justice, and saving the nation? Top |
