Coverage in University of Georgia Newspaper: |
The following article appeared in the May 1, 2023 edition of the University of Georgia newspaper, the Red and Black:
LaRouche seeks party nomination for 8th time "Calling himself the only competent person seeking the Presidency, Lyndon LaRouche said he has the knowledge to solve the world's economic and security problems. "In a conference call with more than 40 campus newspapers last week, LaRouche, who is running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2004, outlined his party platform. "A change in the nation's leadership is necessary, LaRouche said, because the Bush Administration is incapable of leading the nation. "‘I don't have any bad wishes towards the President, but the man is a fool,' he said. ‘He's a short circuit trying to find a fuse.' "LaRouche said the true leaders of the United States are a group of men whom he calls ‘chicken-hawks' who avoided military service in Vietnam and are now sending youth into battle. "‘People like Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are determined to create a world empire through nuclear terror,' he said. ‘They will use nuclear weapons, it is not a matter of speculation.' "LaRouche said the ‘chicken-hawks' are working to impose the will of the United States throughout the world. "Addressing the war in Iraq, LaRouche said the Bush Administration's purpose was never to free Iraqi citizens but to begin a global war on Islam." "‘We're now in a war which most of our generals have called incompetent in design,' he said. "He also said the college generation is ‘being thrown in the wastebasket,' and the only way to save the United States and the world is to restore the confidence of today's young people. "The only way to ensure the successful survival of the United States is to actively involve youth in the governing process, he said. "LaRouche, who has run for the Democratic Presidential nomination seven times, said if he does not receive the party's nomination, he will not seek the office again. "‘If I'm not in a leadership position, I don't think there will be much of a country for people to vote for in 2008,' he said." -30-
