Q: What is your stand on abortion and gun ownership?

A: I am against single-issue politics. I defend life, including opposition to "death with dignity," "death sentences," and "population control." Those who do not oppose all of these methods of terminating life, but only one or two, are hypocrites who use the single issue as a way of betraying the principle. If you will support the execution of a prisoner, who is probably innocent of the charge, as many in Texas and Virginia were either shown innocent or tried by dubious means, for example, can a plea of innocence under law save a fetal infant from the needle? Hypocrites in such matters are like the captured slave, who says to his captor, "Free me, and I will bring you ten of my relatives to become your slaves." These are issues of constitutional principle; laws should not be made on the basis of "single issues," but always in service of a universal principle.

A man does not prove his fidelity to his marriage by honoring his wife five days a week.

I do not like at all the tendency for single-issuism in the Bill of Rights, but I recognize their virtues as laws, if not as constitutional principles. The right to bear arms is among those features in which the authors of the amendments were right then, and what they
proposed is also right today.

My policy is all matters is: define the principle, first, and choose the course of action derived from that principle, second.
